Hi. My name’s Tatiyanna and I suffer from a bone growth disorder.
I’ve had a excessive palate bone growth in my face my whole life but recently [last year] the bone began to grow forward and became more visible. Over the year, my teeth have become misaligned, my nose has panned out and my face always looks like it’s swollen.
My self-esteem, self-confidence and personality has dropped ridiculously. I cover my face when I smile. I’m shy around new people and haven’t really made an effort to do anything new. Along with all that comes depressive eating and sleep binges. Not only has my surgery date been postponed for more than 6 months - the doctors don’t seem to be trying to find me a date in the first place.
All of this was basically a vent tactic and an attempt at making myself feel better. I still try to smile as much as I can and even though it doesn’t seem obvious to you, I’m struggling inside. But I still smile.
So remember to smile, you may just make someone’s day. :)
